E-mail Print PDF

SACHSA has alot of offer the prospective homeschooler.

SACHSA was created to help support parents in
home educating their children.

SACHSA's members include about 120 families with over
250 children in and around San Angelo, Texas.

The following is a listing of some of the activities and opportunities that SACHSA members have enjoyed.

SACHSA members receive a monthly newsletter.
The newsletter will list SACHSA's monthly events and information on special events that are happening within our group. The newsletter is viewed online or it can be mailed. News updates are emailed.

Members have access to our Members' Page on the web site.
Members are given a password and are then able to access our Members' Page. Members can view our monthly Calendar of Events and keep up-to-date on SACHSA news.  It also helps ensure the privacy and protection of SACHSA members.

Members' Directory
Members are listed in a directory that is available to all SACHSA members.

One Monday night a month, we have Mom's Night Out (MNO).
Once a month, SACHSA moms get together for fellowship and learning.  Nonmembers are welcome to come and meet other home schooling moms and to learn what SACHSA is all about.  Many topics are shared.  MNO is not limited to just moms; dads are encouraged to attend.
We meet the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00P.M. for fellowship, inspiration, to share thoughts about homeschooling, and to pass on information about up and coming events. We invite you to join us at MNO. Feel free to email the SACHSA office for more information.

Monthly coordinators organize activities for kids.
Volunteer coordinators help organize monthly activities for SACHSA kids.  Field trips, park days, bowling, holiday parties, and educational activities are just a few of the things that have been done. But monthly coordinators are not the only ones that can organize event.Events can be organized by anyone who has an idea and the time!  Just check with that month's coordinator to make sure the day is open.

SALT Co-op
Co-ops involve cooperative teaching where two or more parents join together to teach a course. For example, four homeschooling moms might collaborate on a high school history course. Each mom would be responsible for preparing lesson plans, planning field trips, and leading discussions for a semester. Your investment of preparation and instruction for one quarter would pay off in your child receiving instruction for the whole school year. The also adds the opporunity for your child to be around other homeschool children. See our SALT Coop page for more information.

*Please note that SALT Co-op is NOT afiliated with SACHSA.

Each year SACHSA starts the school year with a swim party.
The kids love this!! Non members may participate in the beginning of the year swim party.  Contact the SACHSA office.

SACHSA members coordinate a Spelling Bee, Science Fair, History Fair, and Geography Bee.
These are great opportunities for SACHSA kids.
The History Fair usually takes place in October.
The Geography Bee and Science Fair are usually in January.
And the Spelling Bee is usually in February.
