ACT / SAT / ALTERNATIVE TESTING
ACT / SAT
In general, the ACT is a content-based test, whereas the SAT tests critical thinking and problem solving skills. Depending on your particular strengths and weaknesses, it is possible to perform better on one test than the other. Most students generally do about the same on the ACT as they do on the SAT. Until recently, the ACT was required by colleges in the Midwest, while the SAT was the test of choice for schools in the Northeast and on both coasts. Most schools now accept both. Schools may still require the SAT-II even with the ACT. Check this list for information about schools requiring the SAT-II.
IAlways check the your college choice admission requirement. High School transcripts may be needed.
